Often called Grey Nightjar by mistake, but that is another species that does not occur in Goa, Grey Nightjar is a slightly bigger and darker bird and occurs in north east India, this stunning bird was sat in the open at Mayen Lake, Indian Nightjar also roosts here but does not show the grey patch on the shoulder and its wings are very short of the tail tip reaching about half way, in Jungle the wings reach at least three quarters of the way.
See the Guide to Nightjars by N.Cleere for further pics of Jungle,Grey,Indian Nightjars.
