Gibraltar Point Lincolnshire 1st January 2007
These four pics taken with Coolpix 4500
A first winter male present now for several days, we found it asleep against the reeds on Tennysons marsh, though distane all the time we managed some good views especially when it flew right past us on its way to Jacksons, we walked back to the hide there but it remained right at the very back with Tufteds and a New Zealand scaup.
Though distant it was still really obvious, with the bill pattern standing out and when asleep the lump on the top, back of the head.
Smaller than the Tufteds but appeared stockier with a longer bill.
