BOULTHAM MERE MY LOCAL PATCH

I have birded the area since 1976, we built the first part of the hide in 1995 and extended it two years later, the reserve list currently stands at 221 species as of December 2020 with 5 Sub-species.

NEW SPECIES I HAVE SEEN AT AND AROUND RESERVE.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

Most of the pictures on this blog are of birds taken in the Uk or abroad, i have added other forms of wildlife which includes a few Flowers, Orchids, Fungi, Animals, Moths, Butterflies, Insects and Dragonflies, also there are a few pictures of my local patch Boultham Mere. The older pictures were taken with a Coolpix 995, a Coolpix 4500 and a Canon D20 with a Canon 100-400, a Canon D40 with a Sigma 150-500 DG OS. I now use a Canon 7D with a Sigma 150-600 Sports.

Recent new birds for me in Lincolnshire below

LINCOLNSHIRE 2010

Two new birds for 2010, Semipalmated Sandpiper at Alkborough and a sixth for Britian in the shape of Lincolnshires first Oriental Pratincole at Frampton, only Black Winged to go now.

ORIENTAL PRATINCOLE

This Mega Pratincole gave stunning views over two weekends at Frampton Marsh.
It is a new bird for Lincolnshire and only the 6th British record.

WHITE TAILED SEA EAGLE

This bird gave me the run around for several weeks until i finally connected with it in April, it stayed several months and finally gave stunning views in mid summer.

Two new birds in 2012 a good candidate Thayers Gull at Elsham and a Black winged Stilt at Willow Tree Fen Pod Hole.
