Split into two species Eastern Spotted Dove [Spilupelia chinensis] and Western Spotted Dove [Spilupelia suratensis] scientific name changed from Streptopelia to Spilupelia.
They could have named the Western form as Indian Spotted Dove and the Eastern as Spotted-necked Dove or Chinese Spotted Dove, far better than East and West.
