BLACK CROWNED NIGHT HERON, nycticorax

This superb bird is still present along the Pike Drain between Hykeham Road and Newark road, it generally arrives from the north between 7.45 and 9.00pm as yet the roost site has not been found, and if left undisturbed will feed on the drain till dark, it does take a fair few sticlebacks in the shallow water.
